The Florida Panthers know they will be playing Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on the road.
It’s the way they’ve started each of the three playoff series’ they’ve won already and the Cats wouldn’t have it any other way.
They are still waiting to find out who their opponent will be in the Stanley Cup Final, though.
The Dallas Stars defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in overtime of Game 4 on Thursday night, extending the series to a fifth game back in Vegas.
While it will be at least a few more days before the Stanley Cup Final matchup is settled, we now know when the championship series will begin.
Sort of.
The NHL announced that Game 1 of the Final will be either Wednesday, May 31 or Saturday, June 3.
If Vegas wins Game 5 at home on Saturday, they’ll host Game 1 of the Cup Final on Wednesday.
Should Dallas extend the Western Conference Final to at least a sixth game, the Stanley Cup series won’t begin until the following Saturday in either Vegas or Dallas.
The full schedule for both potential start dates can be seen below.
