Colts legend Peyton Manning could reportedly play a major role in the team’s next coaching hire.
Per MMQB’s Albert Breer, the Colts are working on bringing Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan to Indy for a second interview which could happen as soon as Wednesday.
Noting, “among Callahan’s advocates is Colts legend Peyton Manning” which would likely carry weight with owner Jim Irsay.
The NFL world reacted to the Manning angle on Twitter.
“Notice how Peyton Manning is advocating for Callahan as HC but hasn’t said the same thing about former teammate Jeff Saturday. In fact, it seems like Manning was dismissive of Saturday getting the job on the Manningcast that followed the hire,” a user pointed out.
“Keep an eye on Bill Callahan becoming his son’s offensive coordinator if he were to get an NFL head coaching job,” commented Tyler Johnson.
“Last time Peyton advocated for an OC, we got stuck with Adam Gase,” a Jets fan replied.
