NFL world reacts to Bengals quarterback move

The Cincinnati Bengals made a change to their quarterback depth chart Saturday ahead of their AFC championship clash with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. That change saw them promote quarterback Jake Browning to the active squad.

“We have elevated QB Jake Browning and OT Isaiah Prince from the practice squad to the active roster for tomorrow’s AFC Championship at Kansas City,” the Bengals tweeted.

Browning played collegiately with the Washington Huskies, where he earned the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2016. The Minnesota Vikings signed Browning as an undrafted free agent in 2019. Browning stayed with the franchise until it waived him in 2021.

Browning then signed to the Bengals practice squad in September 2021. He now earns an active roster shot before the Bengals’ biggest game of the season.

“Jake Browning starting confirmed!” joked one fan.

“Tomorrow’s game is at Browninghead Stadium. Last minute change. I hope they don’t have to use Prince, though. That’s worst-case scenario stuff,” a Bengals fan wrote.

“Seems everyone asking why doesn’t know or understand the game,” wrote another fan.

“Jake Browning collecting that game check,” noted one fan.

Oddsmakers currently list the Chiefs at 1.5-point favorites entering the contest. We’ll see how they do Sunday.
