After making the conference championship game for a second time in as many seasons, Cincinnati Bengals suffered a tough loss to the Kansas City Chiefs following a costly penalty in the final seconds of the game that set up a game-winning field goal for the Chiefs. It wasn’t the outcome the team had hoped for, but star quarterback Joe Burrow thinks the Bengals will be back – and stronger.
After the game, Joe Burrow spoke to the media about the loss. And while he said that the loss was certainly disappointing, he’s excited about the direction the team is heading in the future.
“Even last year, the expectation was to always be in this game and to win it. I think we have the guys in that room, going forward, that will put us in that position, along with the front office and the coaching staff,” Burrow said according to Geoff Hobson of the Cincinnati Bengals team website. “I feel very good about the direction that were headed in. We’ve been in this game for two straight years. We have won one and lost one. Obviously, this one hurts but we will come back stronger.”
Burrow has made it clear that competing for conference titles and Super Bowl championships is now the standard in Cincinnati. And it sounds like he’ll work hard to keep it that way.
