Breaking: Legendary WWE Star Has Died At 68

Former WWE wrestler Lanny Poffo died at the age of 68.

His friend, Hacksaw Jim Duggan shared the news Thursday morning. Poffo’s cause of death wasn’t disclosed.

“With a very, very heavy heart, I’ve been asked to let everyone know about the passing of our friend and colleague Lanny Poffo, The Genius,” Duggan wrote.

WWE confirmed Poffo’s passing and sent its condolences to his loved ones.

Poffo competed at International Championship Wrestling (ICW), founded by his father Angelo Poffo, for five years. He joined WWE (then WWF) in 1985 with his brother, “Macho Man” Randy Savage.

“Leaping” Lanny Poffo initially won over crowds as a high-flying fan favorite who’d read poems and threw frisbees into the crowd. He later turned heel to manage Mr. Perfect (Curt Henning) as The Genius until 1992.

Poffo signed with WCW in 1995 but seldom appeared on TV programming.

In 2015, Poffo inducted his deceased brother into the WWE Hall of Fame. Outside the ring, he published two books.

Our condolences to Poffo’s family and friends for their loss.
